OVERVIEW

Care that connects.

Generating the evidence that makes programmes work and proving what works This programme forms one part of MCHF’s integrated strategic framework for 2027–2031.

Community participation, evidence-based design, service linkages and partnerships reinforce each other. Activities and numerical targets are refined through annual work planning, based on baseline findings, resources and implementation capacity.

Learning guide

Learning how evidence becomes useful.

The research programme focuses on locally relevant questions, practical learning and the translation of findings into programme decisions. An agenda describes what will be studied; it is different from a completed finding.

IN THE SIERRA LEONE CONTEXT

Local knowledge. Shared priorities.

Useful evidence begins with questions that matter in Sierra Leone, developed with communities, health workers and local research institutions.

Ask locally relevant questions

Explore how the setting, district and delivery arrangements affect a programme question.

Respect people and their information

Plan appropriate ethical review, consent and responsible data handling before undertaking a study.

Share findings in useful ways

Discuss findings and limitations with the people and institutions who can use the learning.

Meet our national focus

Planning considerations for MCHF’s programme framework. Confirmed delivery locations and activities are listed with each published project.

UNDERSTAND THE APPROACH

Learning how evidence becomes useful.

The research programme focuses on locally relevant questions, practical learning and the translation of findings into programme decisions. An agenda describes what will be studied; it is different from a completed finding.

01

Operational research

Operational research asks practical questions about how programmes and services work. It can help identify implementation challenges and inform improvements in real delivery settings.

02

Monitoring, evaluation and learning

Monitoring follows implementation over time. Evaluation examines a programme more deeply. Learning uses the information to improve decisions, adapt activities and share lessons.

03

Knowledge translation

Reports alone are not the end of research. The strategy includes policy briefs, evidence summaries, dialogues and learning events so findings can inform institutions and communities.

Framework: MCHF Strategic Plan 2027–2031 and institutional memorandum. This introduction explains the approach; it does not report completed programme results.
